FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Pioneering campaign to raise visibility and reduce stigma in universities
Mexico City – September 29, 2025 – This October, the Mexican Network of Health-Promoting Universities (RMUPS) and Menoglobal will launch Project Meno+ (#Menoplus) in Mexico, as part of a global menopause awareness campaign aimed at fostering an open, evidence-based understanding of this natural stage of life.
Menopause affects millions of women in Mexico, yet it remains little discussed and poorly understood—even in academic settings. Through this collaboration, universities are expected to become spaces for dialogue, support, and comprehensive women’s health education.
“This collaboration represents a historic opportunity to position universities as spaces of care, equity, and social innovation,” said Antonio Jiménez Luna, President of the RMUPS Governing Board. “By promoting a deeper understanding of menopause, we strengthen our university communities and send a clear message: women’s health is everyone’s concern.”
Three pillars to transform the national conversation
The initiative is built on three core pillars:
Throughout October, local events, webinars, and a national survey will take place. In addition to collecting perceptions of menopause within university communities, the survey will serve as an educational tool to spark dialogue and raise awareness.
Jennifer Barsky, Founder and CEO of Menoglobal, explained:
“Universities train the future doctors, nurses, business leaders, and government leaders who will define how society understands and responds to women’s health. The data we gather will provide valuable insights into current knowledge and guide future awareness campaigns and educational programs.”
Expected transformative impact
This pioneering collaboration is expected to generate lasting impact in health-promoting universities and within Mexico’s education system. By reaching students, faculty, and staff of all genders, the initiative aims to shift the conversation on menopause from stigma to evidence-based understanding and positive engagement.
RMUPS’ participation will not only strengthen institutional capacities in gender and health but will also significantly improve the organizational climate for women in higher education. By positioning participating institutions as leaders in gender-sensitive educational innovation, this strategic alliance sets a precedent for future women’s health initiatives in Latin America, contributing to a profound cultural shift that will benefit future generations.
We invite all universities across the country to join this collective effort to break myths, build knowledge, and transform the way Mexico understands menopause.

The Mexican Network of Health-Promoting Universities (RMUPS) brings together higher education institutions committed to advancing health within the school environment. With over 18 years of continuous action to support well-being, RMUPS fosters dialogue and research to accelerate the work of state, national, and international networks in the Healthy and Health-Promoting Universities movement.
Menoglobal is the first international organization dedicated to positioning menopause as a global public health priority. It brings together allies from the public, private, and civil society sectors to close data gaps, influence policy, and co-create culturally relevant resources to reduce stigma and improve care. With evidence, equity, and empathy, Menoglobal seeks to ensure all women experience this life stage with dignity and support.
As part of its awareness efforts, Menoglobal leads Project Meno+ (#Menoplus), its flagship initiative to break the silence around menopause. The project connects universities, community organizations, and health professionals in different countries, generating educational resources, promoting research, and amplifying local voices on a global platform.
